Will braces help me?!

Question: I'm going to say ahead of this...this is kind of long, because it's a bit of a complicated question. So please don't tell me about how 'I'm not reading all of that stuff'. I'm stating ahead of time that it will be pretty long, but it's for a very good purpose...not just random rambling. Okay, so here's the deal. I'm 25 years old (male, not that it should matter much). When I was really young (I don't know the exact age...maybe 5 to 8 years old or something like that), I fell somehow and hit my mouth on the floor. When I fell, I apparently bit a hole through my bottom lip, with my top front teeth. The hole was not in the bottom lip itself, but rather the skin about a half of a inch or so below my actual bottom lip. As I grew, this caused a lot of my front teeth (top and bottom ) to grow in crooked. My two top front teeth have a 'gap' in them.

You can get all those problems fixed with braces. I'm not sure that the fall actually caused your teeth to become crooked unless the teeth themselves were knocked loose. It's just the way you were put together (blame your parents!). A gap between the top front teeth is usually caused by a piece of skin (called a "frenum") that connects high inside your top lip down to your gums between the two front teeth. If it attatched low (closer to the teeth) it causes a space between the top front teeth. I had a low frenum myself. Sometimes they cut it or in my case it tore on it's own. Lift your top lip up and look at the frenum-you'll see where it attatches. Ask around and find a reputable orthodontist and just go for a consult. Maybe go to a couple. The consults aren't too expensive and can give you an idea of cost, payment methods and time expected. Many insurances don't cover ortho on adults but a few do. Many orthodontists have payment plans that make it possible for those without insurance. Braces average about $3,000 give or take and are on about 2 years give or take-depending on your level of correction required. Invisiline are clear plastic removable trays that have to be worn 22 hours a day and cost a little more. You have to be really devoted to use them. You can't just take the trays out when they are sore and expect them to work. But they are much easier to clean around than metal braces. Check around, do thorough research before making a decision. I suggest you do it though not only for your own self-confidence and more pleasing appearance but straight teeth are easier to keep clean, reduce jaw problems, future cavities and decreases your chances of future gum disease. So, not only will you look and feel better about yourself, your mouth will be healthier. Just do it.........you'll be glad you did. It's so worth the time, trouble and money it will take. Good luck to you!

sorry i dont have time to read it i g2g babysit but i suggest going to an orthodontist or dentist to ask if you need braces because no one on yahoo will know

Heey.
Yeah i think you should be able to get this fixed.
Go to your dentist and ask him to refer you to someone who can give you braces and further information.
If you do get braces, because you are over the age of 16, you may have to pay for them unless you manage to claim them off your national health insurence because you damaged your teeth in a accident. You can also get clear braces which are not really obvious at all. These can cost about a thousand pounds but depending on the type of braces you get these may not be available.
Hope i've helped! xxx

dont really think u should have braces, too expensive and toooo PAINFUL!!!!
i had braces at the age of 11, for nearly over a year
4 side teeth had to be taken out before braces where applied and each month i had to visit the dentist to get the brace tightened, trust me it kills, u cant even eat solid foods.
waste of time for me though, over the years my teeth seem to have gone back to their original place.
up to you though, anyway hope i ent scared you, lol

Braces will help you stranghten your teeth!! It wil also help your teeth grow strait!!
