Okay im only 19 years old and i have been working in an ortho office for about 2 years now. I work and go to school. I also want to be an orthodontist. From my experiences i can tell you that for the most part the job is very easy and has a very relaxed atmosphere. Most patients are really sociable and since the patients have to be back on a monthly (average) basis you usually gain a friendship bond with your patients. Some i have seen for years! Like i said before the job is really easy and clean. It is not like General Dentistry (which i have also worked in.) were you have to do a lot of root canals and surgeries. i mentioned root canals cause i absoulutely hate them (there to long!!!) For the most part orthodontist dont really deal with blood (unless the patient doesnt brush and his/her gums bleed easily while trying to do a retie or another procedure). This is very rare though. Usually in the offices i have worked in, we have television sets, so while waiting for the patient i would watch many movies. Sometimes patient miss their appointment and that usually means free time. This time i have used it to conversate with the other workers or take a nap in the patients chairs or just simply watch another movie. As for Lunch and breaks. Technically we get an hour of lunch (we come back whenever we are done, of course no longer than two hours, patients need to be attended) as for breaks we can take them whenever there arent patients. Overall the job is very fun and relaxing. I highly recommend you go for ortho. The career isnt easy as you may already know. but my favorite part is that you can major in whatever you want as long as you take the pre dent course. Good luck with you career!

Orthadantist eat like crazy!!!
They also poop a lot

Orthodontist is the one who corrects the malpositioning of the teeth with the help of wires and braces. You have to first complete your basic dentistry DDS/BDS or equivalent and then go for post graduation in orthodontia. It is big money spinner. Go ahead. All the best.
