Does it hurt when your doctors shoots novacaine into your gums?!

Question: How much?

Answers: How much?

In my oppinion if you have a good dentist he will put something on your gums ahead of injecting the novacaine. There is new technology for the dentist to use to make sure the patient does not suffer upon going to one. Unfortunitlly, the dentist have earned their bad, scary , mean persons all by their selves. Going to a dentist is everyones worst trip we have to make, and if they had been different in the way they handle patients, eons ago, maybe we would not have to be so scared. You can call different dentists and ask what kind of proceedures they do when working on the teeth. You have that right to always ask questions and choose who you want. I hope yor visit goes well. I will say a prayer for you, Connie

just for a split second that it feels odd like there is something stuck there not painful. Has been awhile maybe even better procedure now

it hurts a little bit, not to much because novacaine works really fast and your mouth will go numb in about a minute after you get the shot. Don't worry about it it done not hurt too much

well im used to pain since i box but i would say a little sting like if you were to pinch your hand quickly but the pain goes away quickly

it hurts so much u think u r dieing dont do it will hurt so much

yes,but some dentists now use a "sedation"
technic, meaning you swollow a small pill and wake up with your tooth repaired

Mine hurt like hell - and then it didn't numb up enough so they did it again. Idiots - worked the second time - was crying from it though. Had four teeth pulled for braces.

If you're getting teeth pulled I'd recommend general anesthesia - (knocked out, asleep). Liked that much better for my wisdoms.

Honestly not really. It feels more weird than painful when they stick you with it and in a couple of seconds the medicine starts to take effect. Also novacaine isn't used anymore, they use a similar drug because novacaine was found to kill some people in rare instances.

I think what hurts more is your feelings for having to have a dentist stick you in the first place. Believe me, I know.

Once he takes the needle out, you just wait about 10 minutes and then he starts the procedure and it's over before you know it.

It's not so bad.

Don't know, but my sister said it does for a bit.

my 7 yo nephew had 2 fillings yesterday and the only thing he complained about was the smell of "burning hair"

nope doesnt hurt.
it lasts like.. a fourth of a second.
its really no big deal,
don't spend your time worrying about it girl!

It's a burning hot poking needle for about 5 seconds, then you cant feel anything.
I always said that first shot was the worst part of any dental procedure.

I actually think the shot hurts a lot. They use numbing gel on the area before the shoot me up but they never wait long enough for it to numb the area.

my personal experience (and believe me i have a lot) it doesn't hurt that much. a quick pain and then its over. before they even stick it in they either spray or put a very slight numbing jell on the area so it doesn't hurt as much. if you take a deep breath through your nose while they do it make some of the pain go away. just think what would happen if they didn't numb your mouth.
