If there is a ridge around a molar that gives me pain unless I take motrin on a !

Question:

If there is a ridge around a molar that gives me pain unless I take motrin on a regular basis, is this a fixab

fixable situation or will the pain remain until the tooth is pulled? I have heard of soo many people getting root canals that are not successful! Should I have the tooth pulled?

There was a 4mm deep hole in that tooth! I fired the dentist that missed it! New dentist pulled it cause I have met soo many root canal failures. I will get false teeth first! I don't like tooth pain.

Answers:

I'm not sure what a "ridge around a molar" is but this might be an abscess. It's almost always better to keep a tooth if the surrounding bone is healthy. While root canals are not guaranteed to work as you are dealing with the body's ability to heal and keep healed the area around the end of the roots, they work out probably over 99% on front teeth and 95% or greater on molars. A lot of the success depends on the skill of the dentist in treating the inside of the tooth and roots. So, if you can afford the treatment, it's well worth the effort. Replacing a real tooth with an artificial one is never as good as what God gave you. See a dentist ASAP to get this "ridge" evaluated. Good luck!
