It's been about 8 years since I went to the dentist, is it too late for me.?!

Question: Ive always brushed but not always flossed, but have skipped my regular oral cleanings. Now after having a molar pulled because it was infected and loose , and with another one loose, I am wondering if its too late for me. Do you have any words of encouragement?

No it's not too late!

If you have periodontal disease (which includes bone loss, which makes teeth loose, and usually deeper pockets), you will not be able to reverse the bone loss, but you will be able to stop it before more destruction occurs!

My suggestion to you is to go have a cleaning done and see where you are at as far as your oral health is concerned. If you do have periodontal disease you will have to have a cleaning EVERY 3 months for the rest of you life to keep the disease inactive and your bone from even more destruction!

Flossing 1x every day will also help keep the number of disease causing bacteria low!

Good Luck!

well considering u were supposed to go 16 times already, maybe

Well if you aren't in serious pain i wouldn't be too worried.
But i would get a dentists appointment sorted out anyway

um yes... go to the damn dentist!! lol. i know, just about everyone hates it but they really are there to help people.

cheers, andrea.

well it is kinda late for you man because you have to go there every six months, but just remember to go there ALOT!! I have dentalphobia and it sucks when you have to have your teeth check out from the man!

it is not too late but don't expect good news when you do. i myself waited ten years and it wasnt pretty
