Braces vs. money?!

Question: I need braces. I really do, but my family doesn't have very much money and my mom is going to pay $290 a month for them. Theat will leave us with hardly any money. Should i really get braces? or is the money more important?I don't want to make my mom do something she will regret...

Will your mom's dental insurance pay for any of it? If not, she might look into buying dental insurance that will. It will certainly make the difference in the long run. A health savings account through work will help, too. Are you old enough to babysit, etc to help with buying your stuff for school?

You are a very kind daughter to even think how will effect your mom. Your mom is very lucky, indeed.

I have the same problem. What we are going to decide to do is have the one who has the worst teeth get it first. (My brother, that's rather unfair but we're poor so...) And we are relying on some kind of medical welfare or w/e that helps pay like 1/2 or 3/4's of it. So I hope that helps, talk to your mom about that.

while it may seem like a lot of money, they may make all the difference in your self esteeme in the future. i would accept this gift, and perhaps find ways to contribute to your household (clearning, cookling) or get a job to earn a little money. if you parents truely couldn't afford them, they wouldn't even be an option...
