Question: i didn't brush my teeth well for about a year and a half i did brush just like every other day sometimes alittle longer i was wondering if i could have perontidis already or dose it take longer and if i do could i still get braces

You don't say your age but unless you are young and have a somewhat rare condition called "Rapidly Progressive Juvenile Periodontitis" you probably have gingivitis. Periodontitis involves bone loss and is most common in adults. You will need to go to the dentist and get a good thorough cleaning. Have them tell AND show you, in a mirror, the proper way to brush and floss. You will have to do this EVERY day! It involves less than 5 minutes a day and will ensure you keep your teeth the rest of your life. Once your gums are healthy, you can get braces but it will take probably take 10 minutes a day (while they are on) but worth it. You really need to keep your teeth clean while the braces are on or you will have cavities around every bracket when they are removed. Limit your soda--it's terrible with braces! Trust me, it's worth the little bit of time it takes to keep your mouth healthy. These are the only teeth you will ever have and you will need them for a very long time! good luck
yes you could have periodontist..it doesnt take long. start flossing everyday and get below the gumline to get all the gunk out. you can still get braces, but you will have to go to the dentist and get a good cleaning and they will give you a special mouth rinse to help with the perio.
