Whats wrong with people?????!
Question: i have a coworker hes in his 40's hes a very nice guy, he respects people , doesnt bother anybody, i feel sorry for him cause he has a gum disease that has made lose most of his teeth and the few left ones are so lose that he has to eat soft things otherwise they will fall off!!!!i have talked to him about going to the dentist and hes always giving excuses to not go!!!! like the dr. its too far and so on!!!! i have also notice hes taking antibiotics without a real prescription from a dr. he says he takes them when ever he gets an infection or little blisters/ sore in his mouth... its very sad, no matter how bad i tell him this will get if he doesnt go! i know its not my bussiness , but i cant help it when hes nice to me at work!!!!by the way we do have the best dental insurance that you can imagine!!!!his teeth are already to being pull out he just need an appointment , the finnal its on him!!! so sad!!!

I know what you mean, I have known someone very close to me that had a very similar thing happen. Unfortunately most of the people like this have a very irrational fear of doctors, or had a bad experience with one as a kid, and now think all doctors are bad. This poor man first needs to get counseling, to find out why he is afraid or keeps making excuses, also to get him to understand with modern medicine and special gasses they use, he could sleep through the entire procedure. He may be afraid of being told all the remaining teeth have to come out, but he could have dental implants put in and finally have a beautiful smile and no more pain. The problem with taking the unauthorized antibiotics is he is setting himself up for real trouble because he will one day have antibiotic resistance issues. Also, he may end up with very serious heart health issues, as there is a direct correlation between oral health and a healthy heart (infections in the gums can enter the bloodstream and do serious damage to the lining of the heart). You can be a supportive friend, but ultimately the only one who can help him will be him, when he takes that first step towards self help. :)
