Does anyone wear a dental night guard, and if so....?!

Question: Does anyone wear a night dental guard for teeth grinding? If so, is there one you would recommend buying? Or, is it better for your dentist to construct one? Do they really help? Thanks! :)

You get what you pay for. Your Dentist will take impressions of your teeth and have a night guard made from your mouth's molds. So only you would be able to wear your night guard comfortably.
The type you buy "over the counter" are one size fit most that you try to fashion to your mouth???
Yes the night guard will help. It keeps your teeth apart. Clenching and grinding exerts tons of pressure. When you do grind, the biting forces are distributed more evenly across the biting surface of the guard. Jaw muscles are not over worked. Prevents breaking filling or teeth. Less pressure on the TMJ joint. Some people experience fewer headaches.

Your dentist is supposed to fit you for one. And yes, if you grind your teeth, you need one.

My 5 year old was just fitted for one, she grinds her teeht all night long. The enamel was wearing off, and her dentist made one and she will wear it every night, and every 6 months it will be made to fit her mouth.

u can get it over the counter.. or yeah go to the dentist

Usually, it is much more comfy if a dentist makes one. They can make thinner bleach like trays. You may wear through it after a while, but it is much more comfy and still takes quite a long time to wear through one. Many offices will just make a lower tray for grinding. You may want to request upper and lower trays so you can also have them for whitening your teeth if you want. If they make this kind they are clear and thin and you can wear them during the day if needed.
