what should i do? go to doctor or will the pain go away?

Answers:

I just finished taking antibiotics for my impacted wisdom tooth. An "impacted" tooth refers to a tooth that has failed to emerge fully into its expected position. This failure to erupt properly might occur because there is not enough room in the person's jaw to accommodate the tooth, or because the angulation of the tooth is improper. It creates a "pocket" in the back of your mouth near the wisdom tooth that is very prone to bacteria. If left untreated it will only get worse, trust me. I waited until the pain was so bad, I couldn't even drive myself to the dentist. I don't have dental insurance, so I didn't want to go, but I'm glad I did. They have to take an X Ray of the infected area, just to make sure that what you have is an impacted wisdom tooth, then they will prescribe you a run of antibiotics (usually amoxicillian), and that will take care of it. I found a dentist that only charged me for the X ray ($25) so it wasn't too bad. He will probably suggest that you have it removed because it can be a reoccurring problem if you don't. (I still haven't had mine taken out though, I just clean it really good) I feel for you, it is the worst pain I have ever experienced. (worse than childbirth). Get it treated as quickly as possible.
