Once affected with gingivitis can you stop it?!

Question: Or are you screwed?

Answers: Or are you screwed?

Yup, you can stop it, and eventually get your gums healthy again.

Besides the regular brushing and flossing, make sure you brush you actual gums, not just your teeth. Use a mouthwash like Listerine to kill germs that cause gingivitis.

I have also found that, as gross as it tastes, baking soda can really help your gums stay healthy. Dip your damp toothbrush in, and (gently) go to town on your teeth and gums.

If your gums are not used to it, they may bleed at first. Don't worry. They'll toughen up.

Good luck!

Number one thing to do, besides brushing, you much floss at least twice per day. Three is even better.

When 1st starting to floss, your gums will bleed. Nothing to worry about. The more you floss, less and less of this will happen. Make sure you get the floss around the teeth also.

You can get them back into good shape again. May need a little help from your dentist + he/she can show you how it's done.

Good Luck

Yes, it can be stopped. Brush and floss good. I use perioxide and natural toothpaste to brush my teeth with, after you brush, rinse with listerine and salt water will help too. I find that natural toothpaste works better for me, it makes my teeth feel cleaner and does not leave a residue in my mouth. Jason natural toothpaste, Tom's, there are a few out there, some of them dont taste good but they will make your teeth feel cleaner, I even use baking soda too. Hope this helps you.

Gingivitis is gum disease. It's very common and it's very reverseable. Basically it depends on how bad it is. Ask your dentist what they recommend. They may tell you to brush correctly at least twice daily and to floss daily (note: if you skip one day it's ok, but flossing is very important to having healthy gums). You can get a mouthwash and use that also. They might even recommend a toothpaste that contains fluoride. If the gingivitis is more serious, it may have weakened some of the teeth and you may need treatment.
