I taught my children to brush as soon as their 1st tooth came thru. Today they're 17 and 15, the only time they go to the dentist is for a 6 monthly check up and so far all they have ever needed is routine cleaning. They have beautiful healthy teeth.
The best part is from when they were very small they have never had to be reminded to clean their teeth, it's routine for them because they started doing them so young.

Yes..there is safe toothpaste meant for toddlers so if they swallow it, it's safe.
If they have teeth they should be brushed!
For sure, its very good to teach them at a young age so go for it and dont forget to make it fun!!!!
