I heard that eating lemons is bad for my teeth. Is this true?!

Question:

I heard that eating lemons is bad for my teeth. Is this true?

I sometimes will have cravings for something sour or bitter and I tend to eat a lemon or a half a lemon sometimes. I heard that eating lemons will ruin my teeth. Please let me know if its true or not and why it's so bad.

Answers:

Yes, citric acid can take the enamel off your teeth. But don't worry if you only eat them once in a while. If you're really worried though, get mouthwash and toothpaste with fluride (sp?), its good for strong teeth and enamel, or talk to your dentist about the best toothpastes to protect your teeth and enamel
