I don't know what you have on hand, but here are some suggestions. If you can't do anything with one, then something else will hopefully help.

An ice pack on your face (over the affected area) will help some. Keep it on for a few minutes, then take it off for a few and repeat.

You can also get into your shower and turn the water up as hot as you can tolerate it. Let the water run onto the part of your face that's hurting. This sounds like it'll just make things worse, I know, but it helps me when I have this problem.

You can take an over-the-counter pain reliever like Tylenol to see if that relieves the pain.

If you happen to have cloves, or clove oil, on hand, you can treat the affected area with either one. Actual cloves? Well, stick a few of those in your mouth, around the bad tooth. They'll sting a bit, and taste really bad, but don't swallow them...and leave them in there. They'll draw out the infection if it's present.

And if you're desperate and old enough to legally drink? Well, get a shot of your favorite alcohol and hold it over the painful tooth for several long seconds. It's going to suck out loud, trust me, but it'll help you feel better.

Good luck...and try to see a dentist as soon as you can. That's really the best long-term solution...but I do understand how you can't exactly do that right now.

can u take so pain med..for it

definately take something for the pain.. whatever is in the house i would suggest.. not sure what time it is for you? can u wake the kids and jump in the car?? can anyone watch the for u? a neighbour? why is the tooth hurting? good luck:) i am having wisdom issues myself atm

well...don't worry...you can tell a neighbor to take care of your child and you should quickly go to the dentist.
if it's out of reach, you can have an acetaminophen with a glass of water. it really reduce the pain.
please do whatever I told you..

I would recommend over the counter pain medication to relieve the pain. You can phone a local dentist and see if he/she takes emergency calls. Some dentists do. He/she can advise you on any pain medications that would be safe to take. Depending on your health, even 800mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hrs would make a world of difference. But thats a prescription dose. I would phone a dentist or emergency room at a hospital to make sure that its ok.

Clove oil:Is great to use for toothaches. Apply a little on the affected tooth for some time and then rinse with warm water. Boil 5 grams of fresh peppermint in 1 cup water with a little salt. And rinse mouth well with this .Peppermint is an antiseptic and contains menthol which relives pain .Try out http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/ for more details.
