Wisdom teeth removal?!

Question:

Wisdom teeth removal?

I had my wisdom teeth removed 6 days ago. I had all four wisdom teeth removed(none had yet surfaced) and i had my first bicuspids pulled as well. On the bottom on the left side my sheek has started to swell inside my mouth. The swelling has almost covered another molar. It doesnt cause me any pain unless I accidentally bite on it. I can no longer bite down all the way because this flap gets in the way. I called the surgeon who pulled them and explained my situation. He took me off my antibiotic because he said I could be haaving an allergic reaction. Does anyone know what else it could be. Has anyone had the same problem. I have been off the antibiotic for one day and nothing has changed. Please HELP me!

I find the surgeon's explanation a bit odd. If you were allergic to the antibiotic you would have a rash or go into anaphylactic shock (when your entire throat swells up and cuts off your air supply). It is highly unlikely that only one small area of your body coincidentally where your tooth was pulled would be affected by the antibiotic. In any case, the area is inflamed probably because food got stuck in the socket and it keeps irritating the tissues around it. Your surgeon should clean that area out for you or it can lead to an abscess. If your cheek is starting to swell you may already have an abscess - those however tend to be painful.
