What do they do?

Tell the receptionist you are a bit nervous and also tell the hygienist. They will be a little bit less aggressive. I have had cleanings that were just fine and others where the DH was very aggressive. It will depend on your individual situation. You might have mild discomfort, but I wouldn't anticipate pain and there are methods for pain reduction anyway. Don't delay your visits though. Just go and I'll bet you will think it was just a breeze.

no it doesnt hurt all they do is brush them take off the plaque, and stuff like that!

Are you serious? How old are you?

They basically floss the crap out of them and brush them with a toothbrush that sounds and sometimes feels like it's on steroids!!! LOL... it's really not all bad, it'll probably leave your teeth feeling a little sensitive, especially if you don't brush or floss well. You can talk to your dental hygenist (basically a nurse to the dentist's doctor status) and tell her that you're a little nervous. If she's human, she'll talk you through it and probably be a little gentler on you. Don't worry though, I usually fall asleep at the dentist's, it's that not-painful!!!!

It doessssssssn't hurt at all.
what hurts is getting rotten wisdom teeth taken out, after two years. Now that's being scared. ALWAYS brush your teeth, and it won't be scary going to the dentist.
Miley, seems to be a good kid, her teeth are crooked, but she still has that big bright smile.

The longer you wait, the worse it will get.

Naw, it's easy, and the polishing at the end actually feels kinda good.

Don't worry. They brush your teeth with a mini electric toothbrush,it kindof tickles. They sometimes floss your teeth, but if you floss before you go they won't.They make you bite down on this thing that cleans your teeth and then you can't eat or drink for like 30 minutes.Nothing hurts at the dentist.
Just talk to your dentist, ask them to be super gentle since you are kindof nervous.

don't be scared just bring something/someone that you feel safe with to the dentist you could hold it or him/her's hand

You are just now going to the dentist for the 1st time? Geez, and NO it DOESN'T hurt at all.............

umm i have u gone to the dentist?it does not hurt and when they clean ur teeth it is fine there is nothing to be scared of!they just look at ur teeth ,,take X-rays of ur teeth and (brudh ur teeth b4 going to the dentist)

no it doesnt hurt and if u think thts bad im going to need a root canal!!!! now tht hurts

Nope.
It wont hurt
But, the more you think about it the more scared you'll get! ;)

NOPE! It doesn't hurt at all! All they do is brush them, floss them, put flouride in your mouth (they will rinse your mouth out with water during these, so don't worrry! Oh, and they will look to make sure you don't have any cavities! DON'T WORRY!

Even though it's been repeated---several times---I'll give it a shot...
When you go to get your teeth cleaned, all that the dentist does that hurts is pull WISDOM TEETH. But, fortunatly for you, considering your slight lack of knowledge about the subject, you are probably young, right? Well, because of that, your wisdom teeth don't necessarily need to be taken out yet. All they should do (unless you have a cavity or something like that, which generally you'd know by pain if you have a cavity) is floss for you, have you brush your teeth, rinse your mouth, give you a cheap toy, and your gone. Good luck!!!
