Ulcer Cures?!

Question:

Ulcer Cures?

Recently I was cleaning my teeth and slipped with the toothbrush and it ripped my gum open which turned into an ulcer. Ive tried everything to get rid of it, salt, salt water, bonjela, listerene(sp?), honey, toothpaste and even vegemite! Nothings helped.. is there anything I havent tried? Its been there for almost two weeks now and its driving me crazy.

Answers:

Most likely the area you cut is the tissue that lies on top of the bone and is very tight. This tissue takes a little longer to heal b/c it is so tight, thin, and lies right on top of that bone. You have probably irritated it using all these different things.
1. Keep your teeth clean/well brushed just be very careful w/ your brushing in that area - very gentle.
2. After you brush your teeth at night before bed swish w/ straight hydrogen peroxide, like for cuts in the brown bottle. It says right on the bottle dental rinse/gargle. It does tell you to dilute it on the bottle but it also says to do it 4 times a day. This is b/c it taste awfull regular. However, swish w/ it straight no dilution for 1 minute, spit, do not rinse, eat, or drink for 30 minutes (if you rinse/eat/drink you will only rinse it off and it won't help, the idea is to go to bed and let it do its thing if you brush your tongue really good with toothpaste just before swishing you won't taste it as much). This will keep the area clean and free from irritants letting your tissue heal.
PS other mouthrinses contain alcohol which is really hard on gums and actually irritates the ulcer.
If you do this it should begin to get better/smaller in 2-3 days and will probably be gone in a week.
