My 14 year old daughter needs braces on her teeth, but doesn*t want them?!

Question: Should I tell her she has to get them or should I let her have a say in it?

no children or teens "want" braces..i think mostly because they think they will get made fun of..i have pretty bad teeth and wanted braces when i was younger n went through school not smiling because i was so embarassed. my parents couldnt afford it. not im 23 and just got braces..i would have loved to have them when i was 14! shell be very happy when shes 16 to have perfect teeth and senior pics, shell be able to smile..i wish i would have been so lucky!

get her invisiline. you'll be happy she got them, and no one will be able to see them!

If your daughter needs braces invisilign wont work if its severe enough for a referral. Braces do wonders, and even though kids dont want them, they will thank you later. Maybe you could get the clear bands on them so they are lees noticable. If so, just make sure she doesnt drink dark beverages as they will stain them. Braces dont look bad and it will be fine. I say go 4 it. Im 14 and im getting braces in one day and 12 hours :] im excited.

tell her when she's 25 and has jacked up teeth she will wish she had them. 25 year olds with braces are even DORKIER than 14 year olds. tell her that...bet she'll get em

tell her to get them she will thank you later in life when she has a perfect smile just talk to her and say it will be fine

i agree with na cho baby. do some research on the benefits of braces and the fun of changing colors. show her they're really not that bad, they only hurt for about up to 3 days she'll get used to them. and i'm sure many kids in her grade have them already

I wish my mother made me get them

im 14 now and getting braces. Me personally i think im kinda happy that i am getting them. Although it will probably hurt, your daughter would probably be happy later in life that she got them. Most people have them in my school and no one really makes fun of anyone if thats the case. I think she should kind of have a say in it but try and lean her towards getting them. you can get cool colors too. i think that would make it much better. you can have them match each holiday, and you can also get your favorite colors.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Make her get them now. She's going to wish she got them when she was younger and not have to wear them in her 20's
