Metronidazole Anti Biotics , i'm, about to take them for the first time ever!
Question: will i feel sick as as i take them they are 200mg ?
how can i prevent that so called ghastly metallic taste when i take them ?
if i'm not allergic to penicillin , then should i be ok at not having any side effects ?

Take it with fruit juice to mask the taste. I've had no side effects with them and they didn't make me feel sick. However, you CANNOT take any alcohol - even the slightest bit will make you extremely sick.
You will be fine just tip your head back-chuck it to the back of your throat-and gulp some water down your gullet. No side effects either so get on with it!
They are a broad spectrum, powerful antibiotic and your gp would only usually prescribe them if s/he thought it absoultely necessary. You may well suffer some side effects such as nausea, every one is different, but you can check the leaflet for a list of possible side effects and whats classed as normal.
If you take them with a large gulp of fizzy pop you shouldn't be able to taste them. Then wash them down with plenty of water.
Most people only get a metallic taste when they are on the higher dose of 400mg three times daily. And they're completely unrelated to penicillin and have a totally different mechanism of action, so the fact that you are not allergic to penicillin is absolutely no guidance as to whether or not you may be allergic to metronidazole, however allergies to metronidazole are rare so it's unlikely.
Generally there aren't many side effects with metronidazole, although it is very important that you DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL while you are taking it as it will actually make you very sick. Mostly they recommend not to drink when on antibiotics simply because the diuretic effect of the alcohol makes you pee more and antibiotics are excreted in the urine, so you excrete them from the body to quickly to get the full effect. But if you drink alcohol with metronidazole it will make you violently sick.
