Does getting a filling hurt?!

Question: does getting a filling hurt? because im really freaking out about it, i have had that injection before when i had two teeth pulled out, and some of my mates are saying that its worse to have a filling.
how much does it hurt, HONESTLY, and how long does the procedure take?

It doesn't hurt. Nothing like having a tooth pulled. the injection stings a little but is over in seconds. The drilling is a strange sensation, but doesn't hurt and putting the filling in is just a bit of pressure. If it isn't a particularly deep filling you should be done in about 20 minutes from start to finish. You dentist will give you a jab and wait for your mouth to go numb. If you feel even a twinge of pain at any stage just let the dentist know and you will get extra anaesthetic. It's nothing to worry about, honestly. I have had most of my teeth filled and it's ok.

Same injection, then you won't feel a thing.
Getting teeth pulled is worse because of the dragging sensation when they're pulling it out
A filling does not hurt, don't worry!

if it`s a deep filling or root treatment then yes it will cause you some discomfort baby!

Not at all

It all depends. The shot hurts a bit. With the high speed drills they have now, it doesn't take very long at all. I actually have had fillings replaced without the Novocaine and did fine. The pain is momentary and doesn't last.

no it doesnt hurt, dont listen to your mates, they are having you on.it only takes about 10 mins for a filling and thats it.

no kid have it done no pain

It depends how well-endowed your partner is.

they do the same-numb it so you dont feel a thing.it doesnt hurt at all I have to go and have two when they can fit me in

Hi,

I avoided the dentist for 6 years because I needed a filling. I was told I needed one when I was 12 and that I would need an injection.. As im terrified of needles, I wouldnt let them give me a filling so they put a temporary one in..

But recently it fell out and I thought id be brave and go back. Im absolutely terrified of the dentist and when it was time for the filling I was told "it may hurt abit or it may not.. so do you want the injection?" to which I replied..HELL NO and went on without it..
and I can honestly say it didnt hurt at all!!
It took about 10 minutes, if that. My whole appointment was 30 minutes, with a polish and clean etc.
Dont be scared, its fine!

only if you visit the marathon man dentist

If it's a small hole & not very deep you don't even need the injection it does'nt hurt & its much better, (no dribbling after)

You can still enjoy the whole procedure. I usually do (weird?). I just think about how good and grown-up I am being, taking care of my health and teeth. The most important thing though, is to trust your dentist completely, then you'll be able to relax and even start enjoying it.

No not at all as they numb the area, you just look stupid after if you try to smile at someone and part of your face doesnt work. lol

it's not that painful cuz you'll be given anesthesia about the procedure i really dont know,,it depends...!!

No not at all Takes a few minutes!! Doc W
