I would say medical assisting, but only because I am a medical assistant myself lol. Go to "salary.com" and enter your zip code and desired job (dental assisting vs. medical assisting) and see what pops up.
There are also a lot more places to go as a medical assistant. For example, you could become an LVN, RN, nurse practitioner, medical biller, and even a full-fledged doctor. You will also never have a need to worry about moving because medical assistants/nurses are needed everywhere. Not to mention you get great medical coverage and benefits...
Dental assisting- they dont get paid as much as medical assistant.
Medical is more $$$ because you are putting "the life of another in your hands" .. understand ? lol
LOL~ you may want to call offices in your area and ask to speak to 'seasoned' dental assistants who have been working for a while, and who are licensed/certified and perform expanded duties and are cross-trained..... you may be surprised at the answers you get.
