it isnt exactly shaving your teeth, its more like drilling and reshaping. a power like-drill is used that the orthodontist, using both his accuracy and hand steadiness, will shape out and remove the rigid edges along your teeth.

i will say, however, some orthodontists do not offer this procedure if they dont have the tools, so your orthodontist, could or could not.

it doesn't exactly hurt.
its more of a stinging feeling.

but it all depends on the person, the 4 bottom front incisors will likely be more sensitive than the 4 top front incisors. Most experience sensitivity, some dont. in your case, you may have sensitivity if you say you have sensitive teeth.

There's not much actually targetting the tooth's enamel when you get your glue off, it's just sanded off and polished, usually no pain.

And your teeth could be yellow and nasty, if you have yellow nasty teeth, then likely your teeth will be the same way when you get your braces off maybe excluding the spots where the brackets were.

That is sooo exciting. getting your braces off is awesome. They will shave your teeth if they have to.. It is uncomfortable but it's totally worth it because you want your teeth to be perfect after all that money your parents spent to straighten them... At times the machine they use can hit a nerve and it will feel like you bit into something really cold, and that really is the most uncomfortable part! It more than anything is just a really weird feeling, but it doesn't last long and it's normal to feel nervous. The glue will not make your teeth yellow.. I mean how often have you seen someone who has had braces in the past w/ yellow stained teeth because of the glue.. it doesn't happen =) Don't worry! and when the pick the glue off that can be sort of uncomfortable too cuz you feel like they're scraping really hard but remember THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS and they know what they're doing so the best thing to do is just relax! Don't worry - you'll LOVE having them off =) I still remember the day I got mine off... o so great!

lol. i got my braces off last year. they dont shave ur teath!! the polish them! u dont really feel it when they take the glue off. the only pain i remember was they kept bumping the tools onto my gums cuz my ortho was kinda clumsy. i have sensitive teath too. u'll b fine. ur teeth wont b yellow and nasty. and if they r a little discolored u can always buy crest white strips!

i doubt u'll need them though. ur teeth feel really weird tho, once they come off, they feel kinda slimy. lol, cuz ur saliva is touching them for the first time in a while. lol. just, they will give u a retainer and if urs is the removable kind... WEAR IT EVERY SINGLE NIGHT or else u will hafta get braces again, and no one wants that (it happened 2 my aunt. she was 15 when she got them off the 1st time and 35 when she got them on again.) lol

its the same process as if you are getting your teeth cleaned when at the dentist. it doesn't hurt one bit, but it will feel strange one you have then off. i remember it took me a while to adjust to life without braces. your teeth should be perfectly fine it you have been brushing and flossing according to your dentist and you should be living a life with perfect teeth.

dont forget to wear you retainer if you get one!

I had braces. They don't shave your teeth (at least they didn't for me) but they do grind off the glue cement that's holding the braces to your teeth - but it doesn't hurt really.

Your teeth won't be yellow or anything, or at least they shouldn't be - unless you didn't brush or something.

One thing to beware of. . . it will HURT (at least it did when I got mine off). Not as bad as when you get them off but it does hurt.
