Dental advice (are there any dentists on here?)?!

Question: Okay, while I do take good care of my teeth they are actually terrible. Even brushing twice a day I have a few of fillings, to be honest I ate ridiculous amounts of sweets when I was younger and didn't give it a second thought and now it's too late...I have a couple of fillings on my front teeth and while they aren't that noticeable because they're white I would rather have a perfect smile, my teeth are also quite crooked.
I was reading up on cosmetic dentistry, but I read that veneers may not be possible if a tooth has had fillings? I'm only in my 20's and this hurts my self esteem. I'm thinking this is a really uncommon problem? everyone I know has perfect teeth, have they never eaten sweets??
P.S. please don't be cruel when answering :)

I'm not a dentist I'm a dental nurse. The first thing you should do is the obvious, go to a dentist. Try to go to one who has a hygienist at that surgery, she will give you a scale and polish and tell you the right way of flossing and brushing your teeth. I know it sounds pretty childish but most people brush their teeth wrong and you can do more harm than good. Then when you see your dentist tell him what your feeling and ask him/her to draw up a treatment plan. Implants are an option but they replace missing teeth and you would be looking at about
