Can't get rid of this build-up in my mouth...HELP!!?!

Question:

Can't get rid of this build-up in my mouth...HELP!!?

I know this is sort of gross, but for two years, there's been this white, filmy substance that builds up on my tongue that I can feel ALL the time inside my mouth that's extremely uncomfortable. My tongue looks normal and healthy, but the film is there (I can wipe it off from my lips). When I told my dentist, he just wrote it off because he didn't "see" anything unusual. I've tried everything from brushing my tongue with a scraper to rinsing with peroxide and mouth wash, but nothing ever works. If anyone one there knows what this is or how to get rid of it, I'd be so grateful for the help. Serious responses only please.

I have had a similar problem and it is difficult to impossible to get a doctor to help. I have done allot of research on the subject and there are a few things that may be causing your discomfort. I dont know your full situation, so I will describe mine and maybe you can go from there. I have had veneers on my teeth for years, also a tooth bridge where I had 4 teeth broken out by an accident. I believe that there were small spaces behind the veneers and under the bridge that could not be cleaned thoroughly. This may sound strange but Yeast can grow in your mouth. I believe that it is medically referred to Candida - Candidiasis.
I tried allot of things to get rid of it, it was very uncomfortable...burning tongue and white film in mouth along with just an uncomfortable bad taste and coating. I finally went to a dentist for a regular teeth cleaning. This dentist that made a mistake and ground off the edges of my veneers up by my gums. Well my point is that those hidden spaces behind the veneers were exposed to regular brushing and cleaning and within some time, the white coating just went away along with the discomfort.

It is possible that your diet can cause a break-out of this naturally occurring yeast, like a high sugar content one. It is also possible that what you are feeling is a reaction to nothing other than allergens, like smoke in the air.
If you dont have dental work that can hide this kind of stuff, it is possible that it can exist in your mouth without places to hide.
I think that the coating is actually caused by an allergic reaction. It may give you some relieve by taking anti-histamines. There are a few remedies out there, sorry I cant recommend one, as this has been years since my undiagnosable outbreak. There are several web sites out there on Candida - Candidiasis. Take a look at these sites if it doesn't sound like you there may be some remedies that can help. Good luck... hope this helps
