Can you wear a jaw expander and braces at the same time?!
Question: My 12 year old daughter is getting braces but she needs to wear a jaw expander first. Is it possible for her to wear it at the same time? And if so will there be the same effects?

Of course you can wear the expander and the braces at the same time. The wires are passive in the brackets, so it won't stop the teeth from moving. It's not like they are locked into place. Some younger kids just need the expander, and it will be a while before all their permanent teeth come in and its time for braces. But for older kids, like your daughter, she can have both at the same time.
--? I`m pretty sure you can. My friend complained a couple of months ago because she had to wear a jaw expander and I saw her wearing braces. I`m not completely sure, though. I hope I helped.
No, usually you don't wear both at the same time. My brother had the expander first until his teeth were separated enough, then he got braces later.

I asked my ortho this when i had my exander on.
The expander seperates your teeth so that your braces can tighten them togeather later on. If you do both at once, your jaw wouldn't expand

because a couple weeks ago at y orthodontist,
thye were telling me about that option.
