Flossing with braces?!

Question: How often should i be flossing with braces?

Currently i do it about twice per month because it is too fussy with the braces on the teeth and adds even more time on top of brushing.

Should i be flossing more? Maybe once/twice per week?

you should floss at least 3-4x per week. just be careful b/c getting that floss stuck in your braces is easy! But as long as you are brushing your teeth at least 3x a day you should be fine! Stay away from too many sweets and sticky/chewy/hard candy and foods, since these are easily trapped in the braces and then you will not have to worry about flossing all the time.

I never flossed when I had braces. I just prodded about with cocktail sticks.

The orthodontist wants people with braces to floss everyday but i never do. Just make sure you brush your teeth really well to avoid stains.

EVERYDAY!!! No exceptions. Use a floss threader or even an inter-dental brush if need be to make it easier.

You can't get to the braced areas very well with your toothbrush, so you NEED to clean in those areas with something..and flossing is a necessary component (more than people realize) to keeping healthy tissues during orthodontic therapy.

Once or twice per day, at least.

Braces are a food trap, food causes decay.

How many people get their braces off just to have to go through a bunch of restorative work? How many more have to actually have their braces removed mid-treatment to have the decay treated and then have the braces reapplied?

Many.

Floss. It's cheap and the best prevention your money can buy.

And, if you don't know this, I am assuming you don't, then your orthodontist is really slacking or you just aren't listening when you're there. My money is on the latter.
