Question:
Did anyone else's parents think flouride treatments on teeth were a Communist Plot to destroy our brains?
I am not joking. In the 50s-60s sometime it must have been started, and my grandparents, parents and all my cousins weren't allowed to get flouride teeth treatments at school or use the toothpaste. So we all got alot of cavaties as kids. Where the heck would an idea like that even come from?
P.S. At 18, I started using flouride and am definitely still a capitalist American, but without more cavaties.

Actually, it was not just the topical applications that these people were so opposed to, but rather the addition of fluoride to the communal water supplies. The antifluoridationists were rabid in their opposition between the 1950's to mid 1970's. A Communist plot was often cited.
