Can wisdom teeth growing in cause my retainer not to fit?!

Question:

Can wisdom teeth growing in cause my retainer not to fit?

I just got my braces off about 4 months ago and i got a retainer that is similar to Invisiline. shortly after i got my braces off, one of my wisdom teeth started growing in. i didn't think anything of it, though. i wasn't wearing my retainer regularly either. anyway i noticed maybe about a month after i got them off that my bottom retainer, around where the tooth had grown, would not fit. i could make it fit by just putting the retainer in at night and kind of biting down on it and by the next morning it would pretty much fit. the next night, though, i would have the same problem and it wouldn't fit again but it wouldn't be as bad as the previous night.
i just noticed that i have a second wisdom tooth coming in and my retainer is fitting worse and worse. i am still not wearing my retainer regularly and i just want to know whether not wearing the retainer is the reason for it being ill-fitting, or if my wisdom teeth growing in is the culprit.

please help! sorry this is so long!

Answers:

It could be both.
Teeth tend to shift throughout your lifetime so by just getting your braces off and not wearing your retainer, the tightness could be caused by tooth movement.
On the other hand, if your retainer was made to completely cover your last tooth at the time your braces were taken off (your 12 year molar), the erupting wisdom tooth might not allow your retainer to seat all the way. Have your retainer checked. Sometimes they can simply cut a piece off the end of the retainer to prevent interference from the wisdom tooth.
