Lots of dental work needed. where to start?!

Question: Im a logger by trade and had an accident last year where a tree spit when falling and hit me in the mouth.
Im missing about10 teeth total and all in the front. *sigh* anyway I got a couple of partial plates.
Im really looking to inplants but they are very expensive.
I do make decent money and can set up arrangments for a payment plan. Im looking at a budget of between5 and 10 grand total.
What could I get in that range that would look and fel better than these damn partial plates?
Thanks for all the help....

Well this is sort of a tricky question to answer. Without knowing which teeth are missing and not knowing the average cost of treatment where you live it makes it tough so I will give you the cost at the office I work in here in Florida. No matter where you live I would say you are looking at the higher end of your budget.

T = Existing tooth M = Missing tooth

Depends on which teeth are missing and assuming you had all 14 on top and bottom to start with.

Something like: T T T T M M M M M T T T T T

A bridge would cover the five missing teeth and two on each side for support...total of nine units.

Or

Something like: T T T M M T T M M M T T T T

A bridge would cover each missing tooth and one on each side to hold it in place..still a total of nine units.

You would require a 9 - unit bridge either way. Our office charges $750 per unit so you're looking at $6750 for just the top not including anything else that's required. No implants this way though.

The other scenario would be to have all existing teeth extracted and dentures made.

Most people get a great fit with their upper denture because the fit along the roof of your mouth creates a "suction" that holds it in place. However the lower is not the same.

For the lowers you would get all teeth extracted and minimum of two implants put in where your canines are now. Instead of having crowns on these implants you would have magnets or snaps that would hold the lower denture in place for a very secure fit. Of course you could do the same on the top as well but generally don't have to.

We charge $2500.00 per implant and $795 per denture. About $6600 plus the cost of the extractions at $125 each...depending on how many there are to do.

Hope this helps a bit. Again prices are in our office in Florida...and I'm told we are inexpensive compared to others in town.

Well do what needs to be done in order to make your smile presentable.

Implants, but they could be more expensive than you think. Contact the nearest dental school in your state and find out if you qualify for the work at the dental school. You would get very good care for a lot less money. The work would be done by senior dental students under the close supervision of the dental school faculty members.

Implants are the way to go if you can afford them and (10) for 10k is a deal. Do the 4 in the front, top & bottom. Good luck.

If you've got a budget of 5-10 grand, that might pay for part of it but not near all of it. Hate to say it. If you're looking at implants, those things are expensive if you need 10 teeth. I mean, I know just a crown is about $1000. My dentist said that I might need an implant on my front tooth that I had knocked out and and she told me I should hope not because those are real expensive. And I know Vaneers are $1000/tooth.

You don't actually have to replace each tooth with an implant.. implants can be used to support a solid bridge. Try a dental school .. they will do the work much cheaper, however you will have to wait longer.
