so when i got my braces off spring break my retainer fit like a glove, and now it doesnt fit as well because my gums were inflammed when they made them. What should i do?
also, i wear them like 24/7, what would happen if I took it off for a few hours or so?
Answers:
Wear them 24/7 for the first 6-7 months. After that you can start wearing them at night only.
Your gums being inflamed would only effect clear (Essix) retainers. If that's what you have, call your orthodontist and see if they will make you another set.
If you have a wire (Hawley) retainer, they have a tendency to loosen up the first month sometimes. Go back to your orthodontist and ask them to adjust it.
