Not a good idea since you don't want to swallow or aspirate it into your lungs. If you are using gauze after a tooth removal (extraction) it usually only needs to be left in place for a short while (30-45 minutes) at most. If the bleeding returned after taking the first gauze pack out you should have used another clean piece to bite on for approximately 30 minutes. Be gentle when cleaning near the area, limit physical activity, no smoking or straws and eat soft foods for about 24 hours after it was first done. Good luck,
