Questions about wisdom teeth?

i'm suppost to go out of town to get a wisdom tooth taken out, the thing is, i'm actually scared because i have anxiety problems and i'm not on any meds for it and not seeing a phyc yet either(docter diagnosed it) so first of all, i'm a bit scared of getting on the plane, second of all i freak out with all meds, i refuse to take anything cuz i'm scared of the possible side effects(though i've had no previous problems) AND i freak with anything having to do with my mouth or throat.....soooo i'm wondering what exactly happens when a wisdom tooth comes out, will i get put to sleep or frozen?
Also do i NEED to have it removed? all i know is that i have an appointment to get it out, but i haven't had any problems with my teeth

I had 2 wisdom teeth removed. I had only top wisdom teeth and none on the bottom. I had one tooth removed at a time over two visits because I'm a baby. I was knocked out for each extraction which was awesome and the recovery was pretty easy for me since neither of my teeth were impacted. If you have the choice I would suggest getting knocked out for the procedure (but I'm a CRNA who works for a dentist / oral surgeon) but I'm biased.
