Question regarding dental plans?!

Question:

Question regarding dental plans?

I just signed up for Avai dental plan and on the member card it says This is not insurance. It is a reduced fee plan. That scared the heck out of me.

Does that mean I need to PURCHASE insurance first in order to use this reduced fee plan?? PLEASE HELP!!

Answers:

No, you do not have to purchase dental insurance in order to use the reduced fee plan.

Although dental insurance is a better option, it can be very expensive. Most employers no longer offer dental insurance to their employees, but will offer the reduced fee plan instead. Most dentists that participate in these plans offer significant reductions in fees for their services. Reduced fee dental plans are also good for people (like me) that are self employed.
