you need to go the dentist. if that tooth has decayed (which it might have if it's breaking off) then it needs to be extracted.
Cold may numb it a little for a short while but it also can hurt a bad tooth . Your best bet is take ibuprofen or some type of pain reliever and get to a dentist tomorrow or asap.
neither will help much. What you need is some Aleve or Motrin...anything with Ibuprofen in it. You should take 2 or 3 depending on your age and all. It is an anti-inflammatory, so it will help a little with the swelling. Also, there is something called Clove Oil that you can put on there, but be careful not to touch your tongue with it, because it will numb your tongue, and it tastes awful. Your best bet of course is going to the dentist, but these will help for the time being.
I'm going to tell you how to help it but you need to see a dentist pretty quick. What you need to do is fill the hole. There is a product at the drug store called Temparin by DenTek. Just get a package, break off a piece and put it in the broken tooth. When the substance gets wet it will harden like a filling. It will keep air out and food out and therefore, help you heal. The reason you need to get the tooth pulled or filled is that rotten teeth can poison your entire body, especially your heart. Good Luck.
Cold to reduce the swelling, swish whiskey over the tooth to relieve the pain, then haul yourself off to your dentist ASAP.
USE HEAT. It helps constrict your blood vessels allowing the antibiotic to work primary at the site of infection!! However, if swelling starts to go up by your eye and/or on your neck and starts to conflict with your airway, you need to go to the ER.
