Mine does too. Try not to chew a lot of gum, stay away from chewy foods and bagels are the worst! If that doesn't help, talk to your doctor, or even your dentist.

mine does this too. so not cool.

You may have TMJ syndrome. You should consult with your dentist.

OK, you have already been told you may have "TMJ" issues and I'll bet that and Greek is as clear as muddy water to you. TMJ refers to the jaw joint and one of the common reasons for it making a snapping noise is a misalignment of your teeth, depending on your age. If your a person who has lost their back teeth and not replaced them with a dental appliance, your jaw is severly over closing when you chew and that certainly can cause the popping sound. On the other hand, if you happen to have an "old" dental appliance or appliances, the denture teeth may have worn down to the point your jaws are being allowed to over close and that can cause popping. Also there are ligaments that attach between the lower Jaw area that fits into the upper socket and when those ligaments get over streached they often pop as they snap back into position when you open after closing to chew. Finally, and the most serious issue would be that the thin layer of really slick covering of tissue that lines the inner surface of the Upper Jaw socket has torn loose at the edge. If this is the case, it begins to roll up sort of like how a loose fitting sock creeps down in your shoe. If this happens you end up with bone to bone contact and that can eventually cause serious damage to the joint. The lining can be reattached as a rule by surgical means. In any event, you need to find out what the exact issue is that is causing the popping. See a dental professional ASAP.
