Can I get a refund on some bad orthodontic work?!

Question:

Can I get a refund on some bad orthodontic work?

I have recently had my braces removed and am really dissatisfied with the work. My jaw pops when I yawn, my bite is off-center on the lower and upper, and some of my teeth are still crooked. I spoke with a new orthodontist a month after getting them off, who says that because of all the extra work needed, that it will cost me about the same now as it did to get them in the beginning. My old ortho offered to take another look at my teeth, but he feels confident that they are straight enough. I found this guy through 1-800-dentist because I was new to the area. That was a huge mistake and one hell of a life lesson that cost me $5000. Since I don't feel comfortable letting this guy do any more work, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Is is possible that I could be entitled to a refund of some sort?

Answers:

I can only share my experience with you, I visited a dentist in Prague at Christmas time. I received a consultation, radiographs and some treatment. I was dissatisfied with the advice given and suggested treatment. I sought advice from a dentist back home and forwarded this on as their consultation was very different from original one. four months later I emailed Prague expressing my dissatisfaction, and they offered me a complete refund. It is worth a try - only I would look more into your rights in this matter. If you purchased faulty goods/services you have these. Make a complaint to them, get a second opinion from another dentist and if they are willing to provide some hard copy evidence to support your complaint. Contact your solicitor to see if they can do the same. Be assertive and Good Luck!
