Best way to pull an adult tooth.?!

Question: My brother in law has an adult molar top tooth that needs to come out as he's been in pain for weeks. He can't afford a dentist, and even if he could, there are none open around here. The tooth is lose from him trying to pull it out, there doesn't seem to be any swelling or infection. I'm asking the best way for him to get this over with without doing any permanent damage. He thinks he can get it out, well it's coming out tonight one way or another he says...do we need to be concerned about the root? Will the root break off it or does it come out with the tooth? He was going to get num on liquor, but I mentioned that will make the bleeding worst. He's keeping Orajel on it at the moment. So whats the best way to do this?

Hi, I'm a dentist.

Dentistry should be performed by those who are trained. Attempting to pull your own tooth is essentially attempting surgery with no training.

If you cannot afford dentistry, you likely will qualify for medicaid or emergency medicaid to at least treat a tooth causing pain.

You might get the tooth out, and if you do, there will be three roots. If one of the roots breaks off, you're pretty much screwed, and you're going to have to pay more money to see an oral surgeon to go in after the root tip, as it will cause an abscess.

Just don't do it. If you get it right, it'll be pure luck.

I have a feeling you're going to try it anyway, but you were warned.

Search for it on youtube, there are some successful examples there.

He has to get it done by a dentist! He'll most likley need a few stitches after its out, because ther will be a huge hole. Honestly, that was really dumb trying to get it out yourself, He should have gone somewhere to get it checked out, and it wouldn't have needed to be pulled. There will be a lot of bleeding, and a large hole where it was. His gums will get swollen and icky. He'll prolly break off the root too, and that will have to be surgically removed. I had 3 adult teeth pulled in surgery, and they had to break the teeth in three parts to get them out, and some root stayed and that had to be removed also. I had 9 stitches between three teeth. I had to get them pulled becasue I am missing one of the four, so they are going to move all my teeth foward.

Try googling a dental school near you.

Believe me, if you can't afford to get a tooth taken out right now, then it'll be EVEN WORSE when its taken out un-professionally and it'll get infected or something like that.

Dental schools give patients free or low cost appointments.
