Severe fear of dentists?!
Question:
Severe fear of dentists?
Hello everyone,
For as long as I can remember, I've been absolutely terrified of going to the dentist. As I get older, it's only getting worse. I have an appointment in about 3 weeks and I'm already freaking out. Whenever I think about it I feel nauseous and it's just really quite unpleasant. I really have no pain tolerance, and a simple checkup is extremely painful to me. My dentist is reasonably patient and will stop if I make him, but I still feel extremely out of control.
I've heard that you can ask ahead for a dentist to give you laughing gas. Is this done during simple checkups? Also, how much money will it add to the bill? I don't know how willing my parents will be to paying an extra hunk of money.
Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Many dentists practice Sedation Dentistry for people who are fearful like you. Find out if your dentist does this, and otherwise where you can find someone who does.
