Big Time Pain Tolerance, Just Don't Let a Dentist Near Me!! General Anesthesia Question.?

I am just one of those people. I have had many surgeries and painfull tests over the years. I would still rather have another spinal tap through scar tissue than go to the dentist. I think it goes back to an abusive childrens dentist who put caps on my two front chipped teeth. I was 10 and afraid to tell anyone. Typical huh? Later in life, I had them changed and managed to talk a Dentist into using General Anesthesia. It really wasn't being dne then and he had to call another Dr. in from the building to get it in. Now, I having not gone back since, I really need to. I see more and more ads now however for Dentists saying "General Anesthesia." Would they do this for the complete overhaul? Cleaning, xray, gum "stuff" (what I am most scared of) cosmetic? And wake me up with a Margarita waiting for me? : ) What exactly do these Dentists "offer" when they say they specialize in nervous, or scared patients? It is so embarrasing after all the other pain I have endured. What a baby!

gas didn't work, that is how it all started.
The Dentist even tried to make sure it wasn't broken -he got high!! I have some super human tolerance to drugs. It's like if you take 2 pills I have to take 8.
Go figure. I have just recently found a Dr. that put a name to it. But gas does nothing. Bummer huh!!!

A good dentist can do twilight sedation, but you're going to pay out the nose (through the teeth?) for it.

The price is in no way indicative of the price of the equipment, training and sedation, by the way.
