Chipped tooth, possilby dead. what can be done?!

Question: i'm 16 years old and about 3 weeks ago i chipped one of my front teeth. i was concerned and saw my dentist the first opening they had. they didn't want to operate on it that day because they feared that the vibrations from the tools might kill the tooth, and made me an appointment for one month later. that appointment comes next wednesday, march 26. it's definitely chipped, but very mildly. the tooth is starting to lose some of its white luster....darkening or becoming transparent. is it dying/dead? and what are the options i'll have if it is dead?

sounds like you may need a root canal. darkening of your tooth is from the died blood cells that are caught in between the tiny pores of your enamel. just like a bruise-- died blood cells around your skin.
if a root canal is needed then your dentist could bleach the internal surface of your tooth to get the darken areas out or simply place a cap or crown over the root canal tooth. It all depends on how big the chip is.
may want to consider wearing a mouthguard if your accident was sport related.
