Wisdom teeth and smoking?!

Question:

Wisdom teeth and smoking?

I just got my wisdom teeth out about 2 hours ago and i really need a cigarette. I know its advised not to smoke within 24 hours after removal but has anyone smoked before then? Also, when did the bleeding stop?

Answers:

It is advised not to and I have had a dry socket from when I did it when I used to smoke. I have gotten away with not getting one though. I would put gauze in my mouth and try to bite down as I gently sucked on the cigarette. I would do it only as hard as i had to in order to get some of it. I always used that technique and once out of 4 times I got a dry socket and it was with the wisdom teeth so its your choice. I want to warn you that it is extremely painful too.
