When getting dentist work done, do you keep your eyes open, or close them?!

Question:

When getting dentist work done, do you keep your eyes open, or close them?

I never really thought about it till my wife told me she closes her eyes. My whole life i have always kept my eyes open. I just look at the ceiling until the dentists face is in the way, then I kind of look through him. The thought never occurred to me to close my eyes, but now that my wife says she closes her eyes, I feel maybe my dentist, and his assistants may think I'm a freak and assume I'm gazing into their eyes.

I wear glasses so stuff in the eyes isn't a problem, and I have had dentists provide safety glasses too. So stuff in the eyes aside, would it seem weird if one kept his or her eyes open?

Ok spongebobroger, maybe since you are a dental heigenist, you can let me know approx how many patients close their eyes and how many keep them open, and which is male or female. Thanks sponge.

Answers:

If you don't have safety glasses, better close your eyes, because sometimes stuff flies and you don't want it to hit your eyes.

But if you have safety glasses, then you can keep them open. Some dentists even have a T.V. or DVD player that you can watch.
