The latest recommendation is to remove wisdom teeth that are impacted (covered by bone or gum tissue) or causing discomfort. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause bone loss, damage to teeth next to it, or even large cysts that have to be surgically removed which also causes bone loss. It is best to have this done between the ages of 17-25 for optimum bone regeneration (the bone grows back completely after the tooth has been removed) and a quicker recovery. However, I have known patients in their 70's needing to have theirs removed. Cost can be anywhere from $500-$2000. There are many factors involved in the cost estimate - degree of difficulty, will the patient be sedated, number of teeth to be removed (some people have only one and some have as many as six!). I hope this helps. The best advise is to do what your dentist recommends and then go to an ORAL SURGEON (this is someone that can sedate a patient and does the procedure all day long).

They basically just take up space, they will make your other teeth crammed together

no it is not always necessary.
usually the jaw is too small and the teeth get crooked...............

not sure y they do nor cost

There usually is not enough room, so they pull the wisdom teeth.

The price is different in other places. The price is more if a person is put to sleep first. That alone can be a couple of hundred. Pulling the teeth can be $250 each or more. Sometimes they have to cut the gum ...or break the teeth and pick them out.

becausew alot of times impacted teeth can grow into the jaw bone causes horrible pain and serious nerve damage and could even result with death (rare)
Not to mention it pushes your other teeth causing damage to them.
I just had my impacted wisdom tooth removed about a month ago and it costed me $644 with no insurance but a discount card

dentist will remove them if they are causing too many problems or are hurting. they remove them b/c the jaw may not have enuff room or they are problemsome. to remove mine was $364 each
