No Front Tooth! Helppppp?!

Question: When I was about 10 years old, my tooth cracked in half. I went to the dentist, who didn't seem to know what he was doing.

-Gave me Root Canal with no Novocaine, then filed down the remains of my tooth and put a cap on it. [silver based I believe with white outside]

Yesterday I was sitting at the library, I bit on my pen, and it fell right out of my mouth. I am 16 years old now, and I am sitting here with half of the tooth still inside my mouth,[up to the gum] and the tooth sitting on my desk. [it is mostly all black]

I have a dentist appointment on Thursday, and I was just wondering if anyone knew the procedure of what is going to happen. I just don't want to be naive to what the dentist will be doing with my mouth this time. I've learned that not everyone is a genius, even if they are a dentist.

p.s. I don't have the same dentist as I did.

ALSO: anything I can do in the meantime to maybe help cover it up. I have work today! and I work at Dunkin Donuts! helpppp please!

I am not sure how far down the tooth is broken - but if there is no way of building another tooth on what's left there then you can try a dental implant which is more expensive but will solve your problem forever.

And for work today - Smile less :-)
take sick leave
or just remember that by Thursday everything will be a funny/embarrassing memory.
good luck
take it easy

Act mysteriously entwined in thought and smile closed mouth. Do lots of nodding to aknowledge people instead of talking at work today. Your dentist will undoubtedly refill it with a fake half.

Do what the one above me said. Avoid showing teeth while smiling but don't avoid smiling.and greet people naturally so they won't notice, if your shy they'll be looking at you.

If you have good insurance and depending on the condition of the remaining half of the tooth, They may clean it up and recap it or pull it, put in a titanium post and place a ceramic (fake) tooth in it's place.

Since the first doctor had not done a good job and the remaining natural tooth is badly decayed, the first thing the doctor is going to want to do is remove that tooth. He may also want to fit you for an implant since it is the front tooth. Until then I believe that he may make you a temporary crown to keep within the natural look so not to cause any unnecessary friction or trauma to the gum.

Remember a crown and a cap are totally different. Since he will probably ultimately have to remove the natural tooth the implant would probably be the only chance of retaining a natural look. He could possibly also do a flapper, which is like a very small bridge that would be abutted to the adjacent teeth.

Before you get to work, call your manager and let them know the situation and ask if you can be somewhere in the store where customer interaction is at a minimum, so you don't have to be stand-offish with the customers.

Whatever, you choose, I hope it all goes well for you.
