I got braces like twoish weeks ago.

I didnt have spacers though.

For me, a few hours after you get them they wont hurt that bad...but a while after i have to say they hurt really badly. You can't eat for a while with them like that so id stock up on jello, pudding, and stuff like that. The first night they didnt cut my mouth its just it hurt because my teeth were moving. The second a third days were better but i still like couldnt eat and stuff. Around the forth day I could start eating soft stuff again if i put it near ,my back teeth to chew because they hurt less. Thats kinda when they started cutting my mouth though but just get the wax in the right places and youll be fine.

Just take lotssss of tylonol (sp)

I know the pain sounds bad but youll have good teeth and the pain really isnt that long

Yeah that was kind of long but I hope it helped.
lol.

p.s. ohh yeah and cut up spaghetti is a good easy thing to eat bcuz u dont have to swallow.
:]

well i got braces like a couple years back
and i can honestly say that they didn't really hurt...
they're a pain to keep up with and it sux that u have to go once a moth to get the tightened
but i think spacers hurt more...

yes! especailly the first few days and everytime u change the wire or get it tigthened!!! and elastics hurt a lot too!!!1

People usually say the spacers hurt the worst. Braces aren't bad. Take some tylenol/advil before you get them on and for the first few days. Don't forget to have them supply you with plenty of wax for the first month or so. You will have lots of irritations with everything rubbing on the inside of ur mouth.

I had braces for a few years the spacers hurt and are sore. It also depends how crooked your teeth are. When you actually get the braces on they don't hurt but when they get tightened it hurts for a day or two. You will get used to it ! Good Luck-Juns

It's really not that bad usually. I thought spacers were more annoying than painful but if you keep advil with you all the time you have nothing to worry about!
Good Luck!

They hurt at first for a little while when you get them on, and when you have to go and get them tightened, but other than that i can barely feel mine anymore i've had them on for a year and a half and now it doesn't really hurt at all when they are tightened. Oh, and the first time i got spacers they hurt really bad for me too, but i had to get them a second time a few months ago and i could barely feel them!

braces only hurt when adjustments are made. i think the pain you are feeling from the spacers are is intense than what the actual tightening of the braces feel like. same goes for elastics, those only feel uncomfortable for the first day or two because your teeth need to adjust. but then you get used to it.
one tylenol pill should take care of the pain the spaces are causing. :D
good luck with your braces! as long as your take good care of your teeth, you'll have a beautiful smile in no time. :D yay!

The first day or two after there on and after each adjustment it'll be uncomfortable. the first day you may not be able to eat solid food. You can take Advil 30 mins before eating, it may help. A spacer is a lot more uncomfertable, depends how aggressive the tx is. Everyone wants the braces off fast, but if your orthodontist goes slow with the tx, it'll be easier on you. Also it depends on how much there moving your teeth. If they have to move them a lot, there's more moving to do so it's a bit more painful.

spacers don't kill as much as frickin' braces......
