Pulled tooth?!

Question:

Pulled tooth?

I had my tooth pulled last week and it started to hurt really bad this week so I went back to him and he put some medicated goss in the gums. Which made it feel great it stung a little at first but other then that it felt great. when I got home I brushed my teeth like I always do before bed and the goss fell out so i rolled it back up and placed it back inside the tooth. But now its starting to hurt again. I don't want to go back to the dentist this week for more goss. So my question is can I buy some Oragel and put it on some goss and lay the goss on my gums for a little bit. My mom said that she did that once when she had a tooth pulled and it stung but I wonder if its like the med goss that he put in my mouth were it just stings for a min then its fine. I've been taking Advil since the the goss fell out and its been standable which is better then it was. So I'm thinking the goss is still working a little bit but is oragel the same as what the dentist put oon the goss in my gums?

Answers:

Typically, the pain you are describing is due to a dry socket. Dry socket is an infection in the bone of the socket. Ora-Gel is very different from the medication your dentist places. Ora-Gel is an anesthetic and the medication your dentist uses disinfects (kills bacteria) and relieves pain. It is well worth it to go back to your dentist and have the socket medicated. You will heal faster and more comfortably.
