Crest Pro-Health NIGHT mouthwash stain?!

Question: Hi all!
I just bought Crest Pro-Health NIGHT rinse and used it. I like the taste and no alcohol! I was just searching online about the product since I've had loss of taste before from using mouthwash, and then I came across a lot of info online about STAINING using this product?

MY QUESTION: This particular nighttime rsion of Pro-Health wash is CLEAR. I'd think that this means that this particular rinse, since it is totally clear, will not stain teeth. Has anyone had staining experience with Pro-Health NIGHT rinse? I have my braces on for another 6 months or so, so it is important that I have no staining around the brackets.

Thanks! :o)

There is an ingredient that does cause staining in the Crest Pro-health rinse. It is harmless and can be easily polished off, if you want to use a rinse with braces, I would recommend a fluoride rinse, that will help to prevent any weak spots around the brackets> this works better than the Crest. But if you want a mouth wash that is for plaque control and alcohol free, you can use Biotene rinse, that doesn't stain.
But in your case, i would use a fluoride rinse like Colgate Phos-Flur or even ACT rinse, it forms a barrier around the tooth to prevent cavities and decalcifications (weak, white spots)

It sounds like you should quit using it. Apparently a couple of the ingredients in it react together and cause stains to form on teeth, although they don't seem to be permanent.

Mouthwash is totally unnecessary with proper brushing, flossing, and rinsing with water. Just make sure that you brush your tongue thoroughly, as well as the roof of your mouth. Or, you could try the Orange Listerine - it's not as strong as the rest.

The ingredient that causes staining (a chemical called CPC) is also in the clear "Night" version of the Pro-Health. So unless you want hard-to-remove brown stains around your teeth, I would discontinue the Crest rinse immediately.
