Not a problem with wisdom teeth extraction. You won't be paralyzed and intubated.

Awareness under anesthesia occurs, but it's rare. If you were having open heart surgery, a C-section under general, or trauma surgery, you'd be at slightly increased risk.

With wisdom teeth, if you hurt, you'll move, and they'll give you more drugs. You'll never know what hit you.

The effect you are talking about is extremely rare. The odds of it happening are so very very low you shouldn't worry about it. Wisdom teeth take only a very short time to get out. They knock you out and the whole thing is done in less than 1/2 hour. The anesthesia they give you is very light but you'll remember nothing. I was nervous too but it went pretty easy.

yeah...dont believe everything you see in the movies! i saw that movie the other day, i didnt like it very much. i have had anesthesia 4 times and have never had a problem with it! a wisdom tooth surgery usually lasts only maybe 15 to 30 minutes at the most and trust me you wont feel a thing! i know you are scared, but one of my best friends is in school right now learning to be an anesthesiologist, and you have nothing to worry about! they go through sooooooo much school and training they know exactly how to take care of you and they know if anything is going wrong, that's why they have to stay in on the surgery, and they dont ever leave like in the movie!

Do not worry it is 1 in many million!! Doc W

They do not exactly use what YOU think is "anesthesia" to put you out when extracting wisdom teeth. It is not the kind they used in the movie you were referring to. You will get an IV filled with a few different medications to put you into "twilight sleep", usually morphine & drug that "makes you forget everything" when you wake up. Don't worry, it's highly unlikely you will remember anything at all & the Dr. is there to monitor your medication. Do a google search for twilight sleep if you want, but please don't worry so much about it, it will be fine:)
