$700 is a pretty good price. Our office charges just over $1000. The reason why they are so expensive is because gold prices are up, plus overall expenses of dental supplies are also up. Most crowns that are sent to dental labs are porcelain over gold or all porcelain.
It takes a lot of time to shape the tooth correctly and to make the crown. These are not shoes you can buy at a warehouse and fit most people. These are custom made just for your tooth. Most crowns are made with some gold in the metal coping and then tooth colored porcelain placed on top of that. My office charges between $1500 and $1800 per crown.
700 isn't bad..would $500 be better for you?
