I have to have dentures made ,just a plate with 3 teeth anyone any advise what to expect at appointment???
Answers:
Dentures are made in 4 stages!
1st appointment- a mould of your upper/lower teeth are taken in a material called Alginate- these are then sent away to an outside lab and Special trays are then made for the next visit.
2nd appointment- The dentist will take your bite registration using a paste called Kelly's paste or SS White paste, the original moulds will have poured up and the frame of the denture will have been made and the special trays will be used to take a more accurate impression of the teeth, again these are sent away to the lab.
3rd appointment-The teeth are set up in wax-this stage is often refered to as a wax try! you get to try the denture in and make sure your happy with the colour and design-again this is sent away to the lab.
4th appointment- Happy days, the denture is ready to be fitted, the dentist will try them in and if you need any minor adjustments the dentist will do this for you!
